Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 December 2025

The Block Library (“we”, “our”, “us”) publishes hands-on reviews of WordPress plugins and blocks. We respect your privacy and only collect the data we need to run the site, reply to submissions, and improve our content.

If you have questions, email submit@theblocklibrary.com.

Who we are

What data we collect and why

1) Data you provide

  • Emails and submissions. When you email us (e.g., plugin review suggestions), we process your message, email address, name (if provided), and any attachments to respond and keep context.
  • Newsletter signup (if enabled): email address and consent preferences to send updates.
  • Comments / forms (if enabled): name, email, comment/message, and the IP address for anti-spam and abuse prevention.

Legal bases (GDPR): consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), legitimate interests (running a review site; Art. 6(1)(f)), and contract if you buy anything from us in the future (Art. 6(1)(b)).

2) Data collected automatically

  • Server logs. IP address, user agent, date/time, and requested URLs, for security and debugging.
  • Cookies & similar tech. See “Cookies” below.
  • Analytics (if enabled): anonymized or pseudonymized usage data to understand traffic and improve the site (e.g., page views, referrers). We do not build individual marketing profiles.

3) Third-party embeds (optional)

Posts may include embedded content (e.g., YouTube, X/Twitter code snippets). Embedded content behaves like a visit to that service and may collect data per their policies.

4) Affiliate links (only if you use them)

We may include clearly labeled affiliate links. If you click one, the retailer may place a cookie to attribute a referral. Affiliate relationships do not affect our scoring. [If you don’t use affiliates, delete this section.]

  • No cross-site advertising features.
  • Data retention capped (typically 14 months).
  • Opt-out respected via your cookie preferences and/or browser settings.

Current provider(s): Google Analytics 4

How we use your data

  • To operate and secure the site (hosting, caching, backups, DDoS protection).
  • To reply to emails and submissions.
  • To send the newsletter you opted into (if enabled).
  • To understand what content is useful and improve reviews (aggregate analytics).
  • To meet legal obligations.

We do not sell personal data.

Sharing & processors

We use trusted vendors to run this site; they process data on our behalf under data-processing agreements:

  • Hosting/CDN & security: [Flywheel hosting] (server logs, IPs)

We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our rights and users’ safety.

Data retention

  • Analytics: per the retention setting above (e.g., 14 months).

We can retain information longer if required to comply with law or resolve disputes.

Your rights (EU/EEA & similar regimes)

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data and receive a copy.
  • Rectify inaccurate data.
  • Erase data (“right to be forgotten”) where applicable.
  • Restrict or object to processing.
  • Port your data in a commonly used format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing).

Children’s privacy

This site is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us to delete it.

Security

We use HTTPS, access controls, and industry-standard security practices. No method is 100% secure, but we work to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, or loss.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to our site or law. We’ll post the updated date at the top and, if changes are material, provide a notice on the site.
